Nebulizers

Nebulizers

The nebulizer is the first point of sample transformation in an ICP system, converting liquid sample into the fine aerosol droplets that ultimately reach the plasma for ionization — and its design, material, and condition control sensitivity, stability, and the range of matrices the system can handle without compromising data quality. Concentric glass nebulizers deliver the finest droplet distribution and highest sensitivity for clean aqueous matrices, but are susceptible to blockage from high-dissolved-solids samples and incompatible with hydrofluoric acid. PFA nebulizers offer equivalent sensitivity with full chemical inertness for HF-containing digests, aggressive acid matrices, and trace-level work where adsorption of analytes to glass surfaces would suppress response. Polypropylene and robust cross-flow designs handle higher dissolved solids loads and more demanding matrices where glass nebulizers would require frequent cleaning or replacement.

Ibis Scientific supplies nebulizers in borosilicate glass, PFA, and polypropylene constructions covering concentric, cross-flow, and microflow designs from Elemental Scientific™ and Burgener Research™ for all major ICP-OES and ICP-MS platforms including Agilent™, Thermo Scientific™, PerkinElmer™, and Shimadzu™ instruments.
